Website Update 02/24/2025

Newsletter

A newsletter feature has been added, thanks to using SubStacks. This can allow you to subscribe to the newsletter, using your email and receive updates from the blog. It won't be for every single little update to the website, but usually new blog entries, relevant news, or major updates. Go to the Home Page, and at the bottom there's a button that links to subscribing to the newsletter. Keep in mind, after entering your email, there is no need to download the app, despite what the page tells you.

The Breach - A TL;DR News Section

Next to the list of blog entires, The Breach is a curated news section of the latest developments in cybersecurity, technology, computer science, and information security and turns it into concise, digestible summaries. Each summary highlights the key points, just to help you quickly stay informed without wasting too much time. I tend to update this daily or if there is any news I deem worthy of mentioning. Where I get the news from does vary. Sometimes it’s a google search, sometimes it’s through social media, but usually it’s through a newsletter.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In the home page, The FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions, is a section where I’ll answer a frequently asked question. Questions I’ll usually come across online or even asked by other students around campus. There is also a link to the full list of frequently asked questions that have been mentioned in the home page, in case you missed one.

Trivia

Alongside the FAQ, Trivia is just a little daily brain teaser. It features a simple cybersecurity question and it’s your job to select the correct one. Don’t worry though, you can keep clicking until you get it correct. The questions will be topics on general cybersecurity knowledge as well as things discussed in the blog entries.

Other Updates

Also in the home page, I included a “Popular Entries” section to highlight some of the most relevant, and yes popular, entries that I think are very in depth and provide a lot of information. I’ve also optimized the website’s layout for a smoother experience on mobile devices. Speaking of optimization, I’ve also improved the website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to enhance its visibility on search engines, making it easier to find when searching for cybersecurity-related topics. At least, I hope. I actually haven’t seen it in effect. There is also now a little description of the website beside the main logo.

If you haven’t noticed yet, at the top of the Home Page, there is a little box beginning with "!Latest:". This is an update box. This message at the top, which you can probably guess, shows the latest update to the website, whether it’s a new entry or an update to the home page.
